Hey Sports fans it’s Tuesday and it’s time to wrap up this past weeks sports, so lets get to it!
Local Sports:
Falcons football visited Plymouth State to play in their last football game of the season. Coming in at 5-4 on the season, they wanted to be able to end the season on a high note. They did just that, winning the game 33-22. Quarterback Garrett Dellechiaie completed 22-of-27 passes, throwing for 285 yards and 5 touchdowns. Phillip Sainte-Juste caught 2 of Dellechiaie passes for touchdowns. It was also a big day for Phillip Sainte-Juste because he broke the school’s record for career touchdown receptions (19), he surpassed the mark of 17 set by former receiver Carlos De La Rosa in 2007.
This was an astonishing achievement that will mark his career forever here as a Fitchburg Falcon. Shane McCloskey caught a 26 yard touchdown pass. Devin Summiel caught a 32 yard pass to set up the scoring chance. Trayvon Neal caught a 23 yard touchdown pass. Kihliefa Best had 69 running yards and Devin Summiel led with a 149 receiving yards. The Falcons finished the season 6-4. Good job this season Falcons. We all look forward to next year.
Falcons mens soccer took on Amherst college at St. Lawrence in Canton N.Y, for the first round of the NCAA division 3 championship. The Falcons unfortunately were unable to advance to the next round and were shutout by Amherst losing by a score of 2-0. I recently sat down with Goalie Aidan Hanratty and he told me that going into the season being predicted to finish last, they wanted to finish with a winning season, 3rd or better, and win MASCAC.
The team used all of these goals as motivation to help drive them this far. Falcons had a great season and showed the other teams, and the league that they are here to play and are willing to face any challenges thrown at them, head on. Great season men, can’t wait to see the what happens next season.

The Falcons this week will face Westfield State on Thursday Nov. 20 at 7 pm at home.
