Casino night is an event that is always looked forward to by many as it requires a substantial amount of planning and effort. To be precise they have been planning this year’s casino since October of last year. Last year’s casino night was a huge success so Fitchburg State Activities Board (FAB), decided to bring it back this year but wanted to add more, as well as different, elements and games.
This year’s Casino night was on May 3 all throughout Hammond; consuming three floors loaded with different activities. The first floor held Bingo all throughout the night with prizes as an incentive for anyone that won. In the corridor, there was a photo booth, food, candy, and refreshments available for all the students in attendance. Located on the ground floor the students were able to choose from a variety of different arcade games all of which included Dance Dance Revolution and even a table offering free Casino Night shirts. On the level floor, they had the games that were authentically “casino.” They had blackjack, roulette and a variety of different card games.
Upon first entry, you had to present your Fitchburg State University OneCard and you, in turn, were given a wristband and our chips to play the games. Student’s could play until they ran out of chips, or you could turn in your chips to the front desk and given raffle tickets in exchange. The hallway of the level floor was full of hundreds of dollar’s worth of prizes and students were allowed to choose which items they wanted to try their luck at.
The prizes were announced the last hour of the night and many FSU students left with prizes such as a hoverboard, ninja blender, and even a camping tent. Throughout the entirety of the night, it was estimated that over three hundred students showed up to participate and earn their shot at walking away with one of the prizes. FSU staff members and students alike volunteered to make FAB’s student-run event as successful as the year before.
