The Fitchburg State Women’s Lacrosse team took on Framingham State on Friday, April 9. The Falcons came in with a record of 1-2, which they looked to improve against an undefeated Framingham State. The Rams came into the game with an impressive 4-0 record.

The Rams started the game off on the attack, missing a few shots before Fitchburg was able to get control of the ball for the first time. With 28 minutes to play in the first half, Madison Alves opened the scoring for the Falcons, as they took an early 1-0 lead. The Rams responded quickly by launching an attack of their own, peppering the goal with shots before Hannah Gueron found the nylon for Framingham, evening the score at one a piece. The Rams hammered shots on net early forcing saves out of Franceska Reyes, who was in net for the Falcons. Reyes made a number of key saves early in the game to keep the score close in a competitive opening 10 minutes. The teams continued to trade goals before Gueron gave the Rams their first lead of the game at 5-4, with 19 minutes left to play in the half. The Rams flipped a switch after this, continuing an onslaught of offense through the rest of the half. The rams took a commanding lead behind goals from Hannah Gueron, Nicole Berry, and Rachel Erickson. The attack proved too much for the Falcons defense, as they had a hard time keeping up with Framingham’s rapid offense. Despite a strong start from the falcons, Framingham was able to control possession of the ball for most of the first half. Fitchburg struggled to get the ball out of their own defensive zone, leading to 10 unanswered goals by the Rams to finish out the frame. The first half came to a close with a score of 13-4, a dominant showing by Framingham State.

Unfortunately for the Falcons, the second half continued with more of the same, as the Rams quickly put up 3 additional goals in the first ten minutes. Fitchburg continued to lack the urgency needed to break through the stout defense of the Rams. Framingham however, continued to run all over the Falcons, increasing their massive lead every few minutes. Fitchburg was able to salvage two goals in the second half, capping off a slow scoring night for the Falcons. The offensive explosion continued for the Rams until the final horn, marking the end of an impressive win for Framingham State. The game ended with a score of 21-6, behind a streak of 16 straight goals for the dominant Rams.

Hannah Gueron led the way for Framingham, scoring 7 of the Rams’ 21 goals. Nicole Berry also had an impressive game, tallying 5 goals at the final horn. Mackenzie Ullrich scored 3 goals for the Falcons, as Frenceska Reyes made 8 saves in a tough loss for Fitchburg.

Framingham State was able to extend their unbeaten streak to five games, remaining undefeated on the season. Fitchburg State dropped to 1-3,  losing their last three games. The Falcons will look to bounce back in their forthcoming divisional games.
