Fitchburg State University held an internship fair on Oct. 1, 2024 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm, located in the Hammond Main Lounge. The purpose of the event was to give students the opportunity to meet different organizations and ideally make connections, meet different employers, and even line up a potential internship for the future.
Susan Beddes is the associate director of the internship fair. When asked to give information about the internship fair, she stated, “There are twenty eight employers attending this internship fair. The employers are hiring for internships for the spring semester and the summer. We have many different industries represented. This is a good opportunity for students to learn about internships and connect with employers who are hiring. I encourage students to come even if they are not sure what they are looking for. There are great opportunities to network and learn about career paths.” The internship fair offered a variety of employers, giving students different chances to meet all kinds of people and job opportunities.
As said above, there were many different employers at the event. When asked what does your organization have to offer students, Emily Gordon representing AAFCPAs stated, “We are an accounting firm, mainly looking for accounting majors. We offer a lot of flexibility and learning opportunities. What stands out about our firm is the flexibility because as long as you come in for training you can work remotely.” Joe Howell (photographed), representing RFK Community Alliance stated, “Our organization offers a great experience for working with at-risk youth and adolescents. We offer a chance to grow in community and to network as well.” From only two out of twenty eight companies at the event, each company is unique in their own way and has a lot of opportunities to offer to students.
A lot of different students with different majors attended the event, looking to network and meet potential employers. When asked which table interested him the most, student Jacob Podsiadlo stated, “The Worcester DA seems cool to work for in the office. The Building Stronger Communities Family by Family organization also caught my attention.” When asked what are you most excited for internship wise, student Joshua Cronin stated, “I am looking forward to my internship lined up with the attorney general of Rhode Island. I have good connections because of my grandfather.” Overall, the Fall 2024 Internship Fair at Fitchburg State was very successful in giving students new opportunities to meet potential employers and make connections.
