Fitchburg, MA— Open Mic Night returns to Downtown Fitchburg
Fitchburg Artistree’s Open Mic Night will be happening in downtown Fitchburg on February 5, 2015. The event will run from 7 to 10PM at Cheng Du Asian Bistro at 310 Main Street.
Fitchburg Artistree, in collaboration with Michael Maxwell Entertainment, invites local musicians, artists, and poets to participate and share their talents with all. This event is free and open to the public.
Fitchburg Artistree’s mission is to encourage the growth of the creative economy by supporting the arts in the efforts to facilitate Fitchburg’s economic development. Artistree began as a creative collaborative with the mission to bridge the gap between Fitchburg State University and the City’s downtown. They are doing this through interaction with music, art, culture, and community.
Over two years we created 2 pop-up galleries with exhibitions, community and musical events, bringing nearly 2,000 people to downtown Fitchburg. Students and local artists were given an opportunity to showcase and strengthen their artistic careers, interact with one another and become civically engaged. With this we provided opportunities that encouraged the existing underground art scene to surface on Main Street in order to help cultivate the reuse of underutilized and vacant storefronts.
