Black Student Union Holds Senior Banquet

On May 4, 2019 Fitchburg State University’s Black Student Union Club hosted a Masquerade Banquet. The Banquet was opened to the public. The event was in celebration of the BSU members, the new E-board and graduating seniors. The banquet was held in Hammond Main Lounge. There was free food, performances, guest speakers, music and a pastor.

The night started with a welcome from Anthony Jerome Berry, the former president on the E-board welcoming everyone and telling everyone how the night would go. Singer and Fitchburg State student, Emmanuella Konadu, sang a song dedicated to the graduating seniors. Cheyenne Winley read her poetry, and Pastor Hughes prayed over the food before everyone began eating.  There was also a dance performance by the name Dancehall King that seemed to energize the crowd.

Furthermore, the new E-board president Morgan Wynkoop introduced the new E-board members, the new Vice president, the new Secretary, the new PRs, the new Treasures, and the new event coordinators. The main event was the presentation of the graduation sashes to graduating seniors. This was a special moment because old E-board was said goodbye to members of BSU, welcomed the new board and offered advice.

The new E-board provided some motivational words to the graduating seniors about life and working hard. After this emotional moment, keynote speaker, Prince Edmond, from the Youth Empowerment Movement Ministries talked about how everyone is unique and everyone has their own talent, to find it and work on it.

Everyone received a shirt on their way out of the banquet.
