Members of the Fitchburg State men’s and women’s basketball teams will be sporting pink t-shirts as they warm up for their games on Tuesday, Feb. 14, as part of their annual “Think Pink” fundraiser. The women tip off at 5:30 p.m. while the men tip off at 7:30 p.m.
Admission to the games is $5 ($3 for students with a OneCard), with all proceeds from ticket sales to be donated to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.
The fund, founded in 2003 in honor of former North Carolina State University coach Kay Yow, raises money for scientific research, assisting the under-served, and unifying people for a common cause in fighting women’s cancers.
In addition to the donation of ticket sales, the “Think Pink” fundraiser will include a collection of can tabs to be donated to Pull Tabs for Charity; this group raises money for the Children’s Inn at the National Institutes of Health, Special Love for Children with Cancer, and Friends of the Clinical Center. PTFC funds are raised through sponsorship of an ongoing aluminum pull-tab recycling program.
