Hey Sports fans, Dan Adorn here from the Fitchburg Point!  I’ve got some big news coming at ya from sports this week.  We have a lot of ground to cover so lets get to it.
Local Sports:
Fitchburg State University’s Football team is now 2-0 after a huge win Friday night against Curry College on the Falcon’s home field. Kendall Perry’s 3 yard run with  5:02 left  in the third quarter broke the 0-0 tie and put the Falcons up 7-0. Phillip Sainte Juste hauled in a 6 yard touchdown pass from Garrett DelleChiaie with 4:00 left in the fourth quarter.
After a Curry College score, Phillip Sainte Juste took back the onside kick 51 yards for a touchdown to add a little more insurance.  The final score of the game was 21-7 with Fitchburg taking home the W. Next game for the Fitchburg Falcons will be this Friday 9/19 at 7:00 PM, at Elliot Field against their rivals, Framingham State.
Falcons Soccer took on Becker College at Becker on 9/13/14. Fitchburg won the game 2-0.  The two goals were scored by Alex Calder and Mauro Gimenez. Nice job guys! Next game is 9/20/14 V. Westfield State College at 12 PM on Elliot Field.
In other sports news:
The biggest game of the week would have to be the huge upset by Boston College over number 9 USC Saturday night. BC won 37 to 31. Down in the first quarter 10 to 0, BC came back in the second quarter to lead 20 to 17. In the second half, BC held on tight to their lead, ending the game 37-31.
NFL
Huge game between the New England Patriots and the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday afternoon. After coming off of a huge loss the week before the Patriots needed a big win and they provided one at the expense of Matt Cassel and the Vikings, who were playing without their star halfback, Adrian Peterson. Gronkowski, ridley, and Edelman were the impact performers in this game.  There is no doubt that Pats fans are glad to see their team dig themselves out of the hole they dug for themselves by starting the season 0-1.  Next week’s game will be at home against the 0-2 Raiders on Sunday at 1:00pm.
