Weekly Sports Update

What’s up sports fans, it’s Tuesday and you know that means. It’s time for the weekly sports wrap-up.
Local Sports
Men’s basketball took on Umass Boston on 11/25 and MIT on 11/29. Both games resulted in tough losses for the Falcons. They lost against Umass Boston 77-67 at home and lost against MIT 63-58 in overtime. The Falcons are now 5-2 on the season. Their next game is tonight against New England College at home and then at Wheaton on 12/4 and then back home to host WPI on 12/6.
Women’s basketball is currently 4-0 on the season. They recently played Umass Boston at home on 11/25 and won 60-57. Their next game is tonight at Lasell, then they are hosting Suffolk on 12/4, and at Tufts on 12/6.
Falcon’s Ice Hockey visited Southern N.H. for the PAL/Stovepipe tournament on Sat. 11/29 and ended up losing this one 6-3. Goals were scored by Stephen Carlette (1) and John Celli (2). Goalie Ryan Wysocki stopped 25 shots for the game. On Sun. 11/30, the men hosted University of New England and won this game 7-4. Goals were scored by James Gordon (1), Cameron Snyder (2), John Celli (2), Kevin Holmes (1), and Timmy Genova (1). The men will now play at Salem State on 12/4 and will host Umass Dartmouth on 12/6 and those will be the last two games of the season before the new year.
Professional Sports
The Boston Bruins hosted the Winnipeg Jets on 11/28 at the Garden and despite Winnipeg scoring first in the first period and no scores in the second period, the Bruins prevailed and won the game thanks to a third period goal by Milan Lucic (5), which sent them into overtime. The game was then won thanks to an overtime goal scored by Dougie Hamilton (5). Tuukka Rask had 35 saves in this game.
Last night, the Boston Bruins played the Anaheim Ducks in Anaheim as part of their four game road trip. First goal of the game was scored in the second period by Brad Marchand (6), this was quickly followed up by 2 goals by the Ducks and one goal was less than a minute after the bruins scored. The Bruins did not score again until halfway into the third period with a goal by Simon Gagne (2) and in the end, they ended up losing this one 3-2.
Goaltender Tuukka Rask had 28 saves on the night. They are currently on the road for a four game West Coast road trip, facing the Kings tonight, the Sharks on 12/4, and and then Coyotes on 12/6.
After a 7 game win streak, the Patriots lost to the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field on 11/30 with a score of 26-21. Tom Brady threw for 245 yards and 2 touchdowns and Brandon Bolden ran in for 1 touchdown. The Patriots will dust themselves off after this rough loss and will now focus on their game against the Chargers in San Diego on 12/7 for an 8:30 pm kickoff.
The Boston Celtics played the Chicago Bulls at home on 11/28 and lost 109-102. They then hosted the Spurs on 11/30 and lost 111-89. They are now 4-10 on the season and continue to struggle. They will play at the Hawks tonight, the Pistons on 12/3, the Lakers on 12/5, and against the Wizards on 12/7 and 12/8.
