If you’re ever in the need for a pocket of relaxing vibes and incredible food, then look no further than Identity Coffee Co. Located two minutes away from Fitchburg State University’s recreational center in downtown Fitchburg, Identity Coffee Co. is the perfect place for studying, unwinding after a long day, or just spending some time with friends. The feel of the restaurant, the music they play, the attitude of the staff, and the quality of the food all come together to create a superb dining experience.
The staff at Identity Cafe expect patrons to want to use their restaurant as a haven for research or other online activities. I say this because the wifi password is right there for all customers to see and the music overhead can be heard clearly by non-active patrons but can be blocked out with virtually any form of headphones by customers who want to get something done online. Aesthetically, the restaurant is very modern; there are local decorations adorning the walls but beyond that, the walls are just a standard issue gray. To me, it feels like they tried to urbanize a country store. I’m quite honestly surprised they found a way to do that without sucking the life out of the experience; Identity Coffee Co. doesn’t try to be anything it isn’t: it’s a local cafe in a city, managing to keep itself afloat despite the prevalence of corporations all around it. The modernization is certainly a large part of how they manage to do this over at Identity Coffee Co., because the hustle and bustle of city life is completely drowned out by a sensory-safe aesthetic.
Moving on to the most important things: the staff and the actual food. The cashier and kitchen staff contribute to the relaxing vibe of the restaurant by simply being the most pleasant and efficient they can be. The food at Identity Coffee Co. is absolutely magnificent. Even when iced, the honey lavender latte I ordered tasted like the liquid equivalent of springtime; I put it to my lips and within the second, I realized that the days of icy sidewalks and parking lot snow banks seventy-five percent the height of my house are coming to a yearly close. For an actual meal, I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese croissant that was twice the size of one I could get at any fast food establishment, at the very least. In terms of said sandwich, the crust was flaky, the egg was thick and cooked incredibly, the cheese was pretty good, and the bacon felt nice to eat.
Now let’s talk money. Identity Coffee Co., as generous as their portions are, happen to be rather pricey. Nowhere near certain fast food places in the Leominster-Fitchburg area, but nothing that the average college student should really be shooting for more than once or twice a month. However, the price is discounted for students of Fitchburg State University. Also, they have a deal where every ten drinks is free, as long as you sign up for that.
To end this review, Identity Coffee Co. is an incredible space to be in for a Fitchburg State University student. If you have some money for a nice meal out with friends or a quiet study place with incredible-tasting food which has lavish portions, consider heading over to Identity Coffee Co. If I had to rate this out of five stars, I would give Identity Coffee Co. a solid four-and-a-half stars.
