College life is not just about what classes you sign up for or what career you are setting yourself up for after graduation. As we all know those decisions are always changing and we may never be sure what to do after school. It is what we do with our free time during those college years that we remember the most.
The Fitchburg Activities Board (FAB) is being completely re-vamped this year starting with the new president, Cassie Schull.
Their weekly meetings will be held in the Main Lounge Mondays at 4PM. This is where the E-Board, chairs and general members work together planning, booking and organizing the major events on campus.
“We are working on collaborating more this semester,” Schull spoke enthusiastically about the current progress FAB has made in the past five months.
FAB plans many events for the Fitchburg State students. This semester they have a handful of well-known comedians coming to perform; there will be the annual New York City trip and a white water rafting trip, as well as the new Local Flavor Music Nights.
“Asking me my favorite event ever in FAB is like asking a little child what candy he would want, if he could have all the candy from the candy store,” Schull explains.
Schull was vice president of FAB last year and was elected by her peers to represent the organization as their president this school year.
“My passion within the organization is setting up, planning and taking down events,” she states.
With this new position she attends meetings with her fellow vice president, Lindsey White and treasurer, Kyle Fayan three times a week. Cassie has meetings four times a week to solidify the Fitchburg Activities Board’s calendar before it goes out to the student body.
“Laughter, smiles and giving students an alternative to partying is why we host our events,” Schull sums up FAB’s overall mission for the year.
There are currently numerous leadership opportunities for students on the Fitchburg Activities Board. They are taking applications for a secretary, weekend events chair, comedy chair, trips chair and recruitment, retention and motivation chair.
