Fitchburg State University senior Alex Domenici. a Communications major from Stoneham, was the typical run-of-the-mill college student just a few years ago, looking to ascertain a college degree to hopefully land a job within the film industry after graduation. But the normality of this individual ends just about there, as a young Domenici transformed himself by taking on the persona “A-Dom” and began chasing his dream of becoming a big name in the world of hip-hop.
Through the years, Domenici has developed a great sense of self-motivation, determination, and passion, above all else, which has allowed him to overcome many obstacles during his young life.
Speaking to several sources who are very close to Domenici, they have all attested to these facts and only speak highly of the young man chasing after his dream. Craig Semenza, another FSU student and a very close friend of Domenici stated, “Alex is an extremely hardworking individual and deserves a lot of respect for the accomplishments he has made thus far as an artist.”
Fortunately, I had the chance to catch up with A-Dom and sit down with him for a one-on-one interview to see what the future has in store for this aspiring young artist.
Q: “So Alex, where does your passion for music come from?”
A: “As a little kid, I was the youngest of my siblings and my three sisters were always listening to music. They all got into Eminem when he was first coming up; and by being with them in the car every day, that specific CD would be playing constantly. As I grew older, I began to appreciate the art of making music and believed I could also tell my story through music. ”
Q: “Tell us a little bit about your style and how you write lyrics for you songs.”
A: “I usually listen to the beat about 20 to 25 times over and over again; from there I start to think about what topic fits into the beat. After this, I write a couple ideas that I would like to fit into the verse, and as I begin I will either freestyle or take about ten minutes for each line to make sure everything is perfect and flows together. I never like to elaborate on false information, meaning that everything you hear is either from experience or something I see happening in the future. ”
Q: “What are your biggest accomplishments up to this point during your music career?”
A: “My latest music video (One Night feat. Ilens) at this point has reached almost 10,000 views on YouTube and has received praise from many including Snoop Dogg’s manager, who reached out to me and said he really enjoyed it. The video has also been posted on several major blogs ranging from New York to Boston which has put me in contact with many new producers from all over the country, most notably California.”
Q: “Lastly, where do you see yourself in five years?”
A: “In five years I see myself pursuing the end goal of trying to make a name for myself. My goal is to get out in the bigger markets in New York and LA to showcase my talents. My hope is to find an independent label out there to start and build a fan base. If all else fails, I have a passion to direct other people’s music videos, largely due to my passion for music. ”
