Fitchburg, MA — PechaKucha Nights/Fitchburg, the only PechaKucha night in central Massachusetts returns on Thursday, Nov. 20 with Vol. 2 at Destare Martini Bar at 320 Main Street, Fitchburg. The event opens at 8 p.m. with presentations scheduled to start at 8:20 p.m. Admission is free.
PechaKucha translates literally from Japanese as “chit chat” or “blah blah” and is an open forum of sharing. The atmosphere is relaxed and scheduled presenters discuss a topic of their choice linked to a central theme. The theme for Vol. 2 is “fall.”
PechaKucha originally was created by Klein Dytham architecture in Tokyo in 2003 as an opportunity for young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public. It has since turned into a massive celebration with events happening in 700 cities around the world, inspiring creatives worldwide. For more information, visit www.pechakucha.org.
Presentations include 20 image slides shown for 20 seconds each, with presentations totaling six minutes and 40 seconds of talking time. Breaks are scheduled between presentations to allow everyone a chance for conversation, refreshments, to make connections, and share their ideas one-on-one.
PechaKucha Nights/Fitchburg was founded by Charlie Roberts and Coelynn McIninch in August 2014. The inaugural event was held September 20, 2014 with four presenters and approximately 40 attendees. Upcoming PechaKucha events are slotted for spring and summer 2015 with themes still to be chosen.
