In celebration of Valentine’s Day, Humans of FSU is doing things a bit differently this week. Each human of FSU comes from different walks of life and to generalize one response for the entire school would be unfair. So…instead of getting one person’s views on the upcoming holiday, I thought I would ask some different stereotypes of students we all see on a day to day basis. Which category do you fall under?
The Single:
“Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day and if so how?”
“No, I don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day. I don’t have anybody to celebrate it with, but you can find me one though.”
“Who was the last person you said ‘I love you’ to?”
“It was to my friend Ara. I don’t say ‘I love you’ that often. I’m not an emotional person.”
The Couple:
“Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day and if so how?”
“Well before I would celebrate Valentine’s Day hanging out with all of my single friends and we’d just make fun of
each other. We made a big joke out of it, but now that I’m in a relationship, I actually have a real reason to celebrate
Valentine’s Day. So yeah, I do celebrate it.”
“Who was the last person you said ‘I love you’ to?”
“I think it was him which wasn’t too long ago.”
“It really wasn’t that long ago.”
“Yeah, like one hour ago.”
The Gamer:
“Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day and if so how?”
“No.”
“Who was the last person you said ‘I love you’ to?”
“Honestly, I have no idea.”
The Athlete:
“Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day and if so how?”
“I do celebrate Valentine’s Day… usually by buying somebody special a gift of some kind and spending time with them that day. Doing whatever they wanna do, but nothing too cheesy I guess.”
“Who was the last person you said ‘I love you’ to?”
“That last time I said ‘I love you” was to my friend Spencer the last time I saw him because we hang out more now than ever. Our whole friend group kind of divided up and left for internships, so it’s just like the two of us now. Spending time together means a lot more now. So, I love him.
The Bookworm:
“Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day and if so how?”
“I celebrate Valentine’s Day with my girlfriend, but not at the university. It’s at my house usually.”
“Who was the last person you said ‘I love you’ to?”
“My girlfriend, like two days ago.”
From the LGBTQ+ Community:
“Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day and if so how?”
“I really don’t. It’s just any other day to me honestly.”
“Who was the last person you said ‘I love you’ to?”
“The last person I probably said ‘I love you’ to is my mother, which was a couple of days ago when I was on the phone with her.”
The Artist:
“Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day and if so how?”
“Um…yes and no. I think Valentine’s Day is a day that you have to, I guess be reminded of. I like to pamper myself with my friends and go out. I don’t know, I think it’s just like a friendship day more than like love and couples in my opinion.
“Who was the last person you said ‘I love you’ to?”
“It was probably my roommate. You know, I like to say ‘I love you’ a lot.”
The Scholar:
“Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day and if so how?”
“No.”
“Who was the last person you said ‘I love you’ to?”
“To my boyfriend.”
The Professor:
“Do you celebrate Valentine’s Day and if so how?”
“I don’t do much to celebrate Valentine’s Day actually. I never really have. I’ve always sent home a care package to my family, which is my nephew, my mom, and sister-in-law. I always found it a little too hearts and flowers for me. I hate the color pink and so I don’t like it all around me or whenever Valentine’s Day comes. I think it’s a fun holiday. I
think it’s a good excuse to have fun, but I’m not really a big Valentine’s Day celebrator.”
“Who was the last person you said ‘I love you’ to?”
“That would be my nephew. He’s eight years old. He lives in Illinois so I don’t get to see him a lot. We skype a lot and play Minecraft together. He’ll randomly, just while you’re doing something, say ‘I love you’ which is always very sweet and cute. So yeah, the last person that I said ‘I love you’ to was definitely him.”
