Trash is going to be strutting down the runway on Nov. 15 at 8 p.m. in the Underground. That’s when the Massachusetts Public Interest Research Group will be hosting a “garbage” fashion show, featuring original student creations made from recyclables and clean garbage. Anyone is welcome to participate and compete in this event by making their own “trashy” costume or Gaga-like garb.
The fashion show is an effort to raise funds for the homeless in the area; organizers are asking for a non-perishable food item or a $1 fee at the door. 
Prizes will be awarded for first-, second- and third-best “garbage” creations, as well as an additional prize for “next top model.” Food will also be available.
Those who hope to put together a prize-worthy outfit may want to check out the recycle bins on campus for raw materials, organizers say. The fashions can be individual or team efforts. They cannot be made with paint or “new” items such as blank posterboard or markers. Tape and glue can be used, but costumes cannot be made completely of duct tape.
Models are asked to arrive at 7:30 p.m. to prepare for the show.
MassPIRG, a student-run activist group, is presenting this eveint as a fun and creative way to get students involved and concerned about social issues like homelessness and recycling.
