On Tuesday, Mar. 26, the Fitchburg Activities Board hosted their reveal for this year’s Spring Week theme. It goes by the name of “Spring into Summer,” and the floral decor within the main lounge represented just that. With popcorn served in flowery-cups, seashells, colorful sand, bright cupcakes, lemonade, and many other thematic decorations, students were given the chance to enjoy the best parts of the coming season a little early.
Spring Week is set to kick off on Sunday, Apr. 28 with a trip to Boston. This trip will be between the times of 11a.m. and 5p.m. and students will be able to explore whatever parts of Boston they want to, for it is not a structured trip. Ticket prices have not been finalized, but FAB President Victoria Weisenhorn says that while there isn’t a set price yet, they will be cheap and aimed under $20.
On Monday Apr. 29, there will be an event by the name of “Fitchburgers and Fries,” which will be held from 3:30p.m. and 5p.m. in Hammond Hall. That evening, students will have the chance to be enchanted by the power of magician Daniel Martin in Weston Auditorium at 8p.m.
On Tuesday, Apr. 30, students can utilize bouncy houses, decorate their skin with henna tattoos, wear flower crowns, get fanny packs, and even take photos with friends in a photo booth provided. Later that day, at 8 p.m. in the Main Lounge, there is another event titled “Headphone Disco.” Weisenhorn talks about what this event entails, and how much of a hit it was last year. “Headphone Disco is like a dance party. A company is going to come in and DJ a dance, and they will bring headphones for everyone to wear with 3 different channels you can change between. We had this event last year for spring week and everybody said they loved it and had so much fun, so we decided to bring it back for another year!”
That Wednesday, members of FSU can “Ride the Waves” with this day’s theme including a dunk tank and a mechanical shark. Students will be able to paint and decorate seashells, and there will be a corner where they can create beach scenes in mason jars. Hypnotist Peter Gross will be at Fitchburg State that night, showing his talents in Weston Auditorium at 8p.m.
Thursday can mean nothing else but “The Falcon Games,” and this day of competitive fun will take place in the Quad. Students are encouraged to stop by and participate in the games held between the times of 3:30p.m. and 5p.m. After a couple hours of running about, FSU members can stop by the Falcon Hub at 8p.m. where FAB will be hosting The Como Brothers, two musicians who will perform their songs.
For Spring Week’s final day, “Feeling Lucky Fitchburg” is the theme and students will be treated to casino and arcade games, as well as bingo, food, and prizes.
For more information, students are encouraged to follow FAB’s Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook pages all under @FSUFAB.
