The crowds started gathering in the streets from Fenway Park all the way to the “Dirty Water” (the Charles River) before the sun had risen on Saturday. The fans wanted a good view of the 2013 World Series Championship winners as they rode on the duck boats through town. A rally inside Fenway was the perfect way to get the players and the fans amped up for the parade.

Trucks blasted confetti into the air, and others played music such as “Sweet Caroline.” The Dropkick Murphys were part of the “rolling rally,” and an estimated 2 million fans were roaring as the Red Sox players rolled by. The Sox players looked as excited as their fans, showing that they love Boston as much as the Boston fans love them.

The whole spirit of the event honored the saying “Boston strong,” as the parade made an emotional stop at the Boston Marathon finish line. (all photos by Megan Drummond)
